Serve at BVBC
God designed the church to function much like the human body. Every part is important and every part works together for the good of the whole body (Ephesians 4:17-24). God made each one of us with gifts, talents and passions to contribute to the healthy growth of the church. At Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, we strive for 100% spiritual employment and it is our goal to help you find a place you can meaningfully serve. The best way to discover where to serve is organically through building relationships in small groups and adult education classes. Through relationships, you will uncover needs and see opportunities to meet those needs. In addition, we have many service teams that would love to have you serve with them. Please contact the person specified below or the church office. Here is a brief list of current teams that have opportunities:
USHERS: Ushers set the stage for the worship experience. They are one of the first people that a worshiper encounters. A friendly greeting and a few words of conversation can help set the right tone. No special skills are needed, but a friendly demeanor (demonstrating that you enjoy and care about people) and a servant’s heart are qualities of a good usher.
This is a fun way to serve the church and get to know people. The Usher team will work with your schedule. Most people serve for a quarter, which is preferred, but others serve for a month or as a substitute when needed. To learn more about this service opportunity, contact Rick Hammond. If you are curious what it is like to serve as an usher, ask any member of the team.
MEDIA TEAM: The Media Team needs more volunteers. This team is responsible for showing the content that appears on the screens during Sunday services (song lyrics, Bible verses, sermon notes). Volunteers serve once a month for 2-3 hours. On the Sundays you serve, you must be available 30 minutes before the start of the service and on Tuesday evenings to attend practice. Volunteers should be comfortable with technology and a familiarity with PowerPoint is helpful. Training will be provided to new volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about this opportunity to serve the church, contact Larisa Forest.
JAVA MINISTRY: The Java Team, who faithful provides coffee and tea for the congregation to enjoy weekly, has an immediate need for more volunteers. Volunteers help with set-up, making coffee and clean-up. Can you come to church earlier to make coffee and set-up? Can you cleanup starting at 10:45 a.m.? To learn more about this service opportunity or to volunteer, contact Debbie Bricker.
If there are other ministries in which you are interested in serving, please contact the church office and you will be directed to the leader of that ministry.
Besides serving within the church Brandywine Valley Baptist Church partners with other local organization. See a list of the organizations.
