English classes are open to anyone who would like to learn English as a second language. All are welcome! All teachers are volunteers who want to help you learn to speak English.
The 2018-19 classes will begin on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
When – Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., September 4 to April 30.
Registration – Registration begins on September 4. Students may join the class on any Tuesday evening during the year. Register in person on Tuesday nights (no pre-registration required).
Classes – Three levels of classes are offered:
- Beginners: For those who speak little or no English
- Intermediate: For those who know just enough English to “get by”
- Advanced: For those who want to improve their pronunciation and accent to feel more comfortable conversing at work, school and in the community
Cost – The class costs $35 for the entire year. This cost includes a textbook and the registration fee for the year.
Other Information – All of the teachers are volunteers certified to teach ESL who want to help you learn to speak English better. Childcare is provided for infants through 3rd grade.

Location – Classes are held at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, 7 Mt Lebanon Road, Wilmington, Delaware. Get directions. The church can be accessed via the DART transportation. Take routes #2 or #35 for the Concord Pike. Get off at the Talleyville Memorial Fire Hall. The church is next to the YMCA.
